THE STONE

SLATE

Slate is a metamorphic rock of

sedimentary origin.

It is a variety of calcareous-clayey schists easily divisible into thin, flat, light, impermeable and resistant to atmospheric agents, deriving from low-grade metamorphism of sedimentary rocks formed by the deposition of a silt very fine due to the erosion of ancient reliefs.

Slate is a rock classified as soft or semi-hard.

It is a compact and easily machinable stone.

By virtue of its schistosity (ie the ability to divide into slabs according to the cleavage plans due to its foliation) and properties, it can be used in various artisan and industrial segments, as much of architecture and building as in art in design and everyday objects.

Materials consisting of a natural stone veneer or a processed amalgam of the same, arranged on fiberglass or textile fiber supports, depending on the type of sediment.

Lightness & flexibility

All materials have a thickness of about 2mm,

are flexible and have a very low specific weight, about 2kg /m2.

Application

The materials can be applied on any surface (smooth, dry and clean) such as: thermal insulation system, plasterboard, wood, metal, fiber cement, ceramic, marble, aluminum, etc.
